Ivy Cheng, PhD

Dr. Ivy Cheng is an Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Hong Kong and a visiting professor at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. Her expertise lies in swallowing neurophysiology and dysphagia. Ivy earned her PhD from the University of Hong Kong and conducted her post-doctoral research at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. In 2023, her outstanding contributions to the field were recognized with the Women in Research (WiRe) Fellowship at the University of Münster, Germany.

Ivy's primary research focuses on using neurostimulation techniques to enhance neuroplasticity in dysphagia rehabilitation. She is committed to promoting evidence-based clinical practice within the field. As General Secretary of the European Society of Swallowing Disorders (ESSD), she actively promotes public awareness and education about dysphagia and its management. She is a frequent keynote and guest speaker at international conferences and serves as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals.
